Letterman: McCain made me feel like 'an ugly date'
"Late Show" host David Letterman kept up a verbal assault on John McCain Thursday, saying he felt like an "ugly date" because the GOP presidential candidate backed out of a scheduled appearance on his talk show.
The night before, Letterman had said McCain's decision to suspend his campaign to deal with the economic crisis "didn't smell right." Letterman substituted MSNBC's "Countdown" host — and critic of the Arizona senator — Keith Olbermann when McCain called him to say he wouldn't appear Wednesday.
David Letterman is a Delicate Flower
It looks like David Letterman’s emotions got the best of him last night when McCain called in on short notice to cancel their date. The result of this is an entire show dedicated to crucifying McCain’s name.
The GOP presidential candidate canceled his appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman on short notice, because he apparently told the TV host he was “racing back to Washington” to attend to the current economic crisis.

McCain Disses David Letterman Big Time: Video
Wow, don't screw with David Letterman. John McCain, GOP Presidential candidate was supposed to appear on David Letterman last night but backed out at the very last minute because of his "suspended" campaign. I don't give a damn what's happening - short of a heart attack or a death in the family, you don't leave someone in a lurch like that. At least get SuperMom Sarah Palin to stand in for you, but to just back out of a major talk show like that? Stinks.
To make matters worse, McCa

"I don’t know if you know about this or not, but last night….Here’s the deal – we do this little TV show every night right here on CBS. And what we do – you see these chairs right here?
