'DWTS': Rocco DiSpirito Spared, Thanks to Misty May-Treanor!

www.theinsider.com - 8th Oct 2008

Misty May-Treanor: Rocco DiSpirito and his pro partner Karina Smirnoff would have been ousted from "Dancing with the Stars" this week if Misty May-Treanor hadn't bowed out due to injury, said the judges on Tuesday night's elimination-free results show. “You’ve got to raise the game, come back to impress,” Bruno Tonioli urged the near-evictees, while Len Goodman assured the masses that Misty and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy would not have been going home, had she been healthy: “Misty had the potential to get all the way through to the final,” Len said. In a new twist, this week’s scores will be combined with next week’s -- meaning the low-scoring duos will have a tougher mountain to climb Read full story at www.theinsider.com

This was another surprising week on Dancing With the Stars. We found out that there were three injuries during rehearsals this week. Derek Hough fell and knocked himself out cold when he hit his head on the floor. Susan Lucci twisted her ankle, but taped it up and performed a jive anyway. And tragically, Olympic athlete Misty May-Treanor tore her achilles tendon!!! YIKES!! That’s one of the most painful leg injuries possible! Sadly, she had to bow out of the competition because she had to have surg

Dancing With the Stars 7: As Cold as Siberia…?
OK, I’m guilty of saying negative things about Kim Kardashian’s level of passion in her dance moves, but I wasn’t the one that did the most dissing this week! The judges were downright mean to her. The worst was Bruno Tonioli. He told her that her dancing was: …as cold and as distant as Siberia. Now THAT’S harsh! I am not surprised that she went home this week, I was surprised that Ted McGinley went home before her. But that’s no reason to be cruel. She was trying to

Rocco & Karina Spared Dancing Elimination
While her fellow Dancing with the Stars contestants were sad to see an injured Misty May-Treanor leave the competition, one couple got an unexpected reprieve because of it. On Tuesday’s Results show, it was revealed that Rocco DiSpirito and his partner Karina Smirnoff would have been voted off the show if the volleyball star hadn’t been forced to withdraw from the competition Monday with a torn Achilles tendon. The announcement came as a surprise to the four remaining couples awaiting their

Dancing With the Stars 7: The Most Fun Dances This Week
This week’s performances were almost all very, very good for the second week. The judges highly favored both Brooke Burke & Warren Sapp, but I have to admit that one of my favorites was not the same. Yes, I thought Warren Sapp was fantastic and the routine that he and Kym Johnson did with a “Matrix-esque” feel, was so much fun, But Brooke Burke’s dance just didn’t WOW me this week. (I’m not a huge fan of the paso doble…it’s just not my favorite.) Here&

Who got kicked off 'Dancing?'
As we suspected, no one was sent home on Dancing With The Stars Tuesday because Misty May-Treanor dropped out due to injury. But as no one would have ever guessed, Cloris Leachman was deemed safe early on. The bottom two were Lance Bass and Rocco DiSpirito (left). Rocco "would have gone home," said Tom Bergeron, but he got a reprieve thanks to Misty. He drew the lowest scores. In addition to the results, there was a performance by Jennifer Hudson, featuring brother and sister act, Derek and Jul

Dancing With Rocco, Week 2
Rocco DiSpirito has had a bumpy ride on Dancing With the Stars. His first performance earned him just 14 points, but then he and Karina Smirnoff shot up to 21 points for their sizzling mambo. But last night, at just 16 points, they walked away with the second-lowest score. (Feisty wisecracker Cloris Leachman was at the bottom with 15.) Carrie Ann Inaba pooh-poohed their lackluster rumba with a simple "Nice try." But DiSpirito isn't letting the judges' not-so-nice critiques get him down. Read on to f
