Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade gets live Rickroll’d… by Rick Astley
The last thing we expected was to get Rickrolled in the middle of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. But just when we thought we were going to be forced to listen to another minute of the Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends float’s musical number, Rick himself rolled the day.
Looking much older, and much less red, than he did 21 years ago, Rick Astley broke into what I was told by the kids was a very bad impression of Bloo, anyway, and started singing his singular huge 80s hit “Ne
Macy's Thanksgiving Parade: Rick Rolled!
Yes, you read that correctly. The 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade got a real life Rick Roll. It was awesome. The float featuring "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" was just floating along, singing their song when someone must have clicked a link they weren't too sure of, and presto- Rick Astley.I wonder if Rick's kid will forgive him for interrupting Foster's. The "Never Gonna Give You Up" singer emerged as the surprise act at this year's Macy's Day parade, that also saw appearances by David Archuleta, Ashanti, Miley Cyrus and Kristin Chenoweth.
Ratings: NBC's Thanksgiving Parade and Dog Show
And in non-Rosie O'Donnell-related NBC holiday ratings news, the network's annual presentation of "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" was up 8% in the overnight metered-market average.
The parade received a 12.6 HH rating and 26 share. The event was followed by "The National Dog Show" (5.1/12), which was up 4% from last year.
In addition to an assortment of NBC talent promoting "Heroes" and "Knight Rider," the event featured a slightly embarrassed-looking Ric
Week in Rock: Gobble Gobble Edition
Just when you thought you might have heard the final Rick Roll you'd ever have to hear, the "phenomenon" comes through with it's biggest score yet. During what was otherwise a completely by-the-numbers Thanksgiving Day Parade, a float promoting a new show on The Cartoon Network rolls by Macy's and starts a goofy puppet show song. Within seconds however, the record scratches and that familiar canned drum beat comes on, accompanied by the collective eye roll of millions of internet regulars. But wait, did he.

This Sunday’s Simpsons premiere: “Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes”
This Sunday, we get to see the first episode of the 20th season of the Simpsons titled Sex, Pies, and Idiot Scrapes. I had the opportunity to see an advance screening of this today, and it was actually pretty good! Basically, Ned and Homer become bounty hunters and take down a few criminals. Everything looks good until the bail bondsman guy gets the latest skipper across his desk - and it’s Homer, who got in trouble for starting a huge fight at the St. Patrick’s Day parade. So Ned then has to go

Thompson: Bloomberg Should 'Clarify' His Position on Term Limits
Here’s video of Comptroller and mayoral candidate Bill Thompson answering questions from reporters at the Labor Day parade, where he expressed support for extending term limits so that members of the City Council could serve for three terms, instead of two--a hot topic of conversation among New York politicians these days. That change should be put before the voters, Thompson said.
He goes on to say Michael Bloomberg needs to “clarify” his position on the topic. (He's not the only one that feels tha
News Bites: Beethoven, 90210, and PG Porn
Sixteen years ago, we got Beethoven -- not Ludwig, but rather the big ol' St. Bernard. Just in case four sequels and a stint on television wasn't enough for you, The Hollywood Reporter posts that Universal is releasing yet another direct-to-DVD sequel on December 30 -- Beethoven's Big Break. I guess they gave up punning on Ludwig with their titles. But just because it's not going to the big screen doesn't mean you can't see the pup in huge glory -- it seems that a giant Beethoven balloon will be part of the

Ratings climb for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade; would you believe more than 44 million watched?
Buzz Lightyear must have a lot of fans. He debuted as a balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the ratings climbed 8 percent from last year.
NBC Research estimates that 44.7 million viewers watched all or part of the network's parade coverage Thanksgiving morning.
That was a lot of eyeballs for such Disney favorites as Buzz (pictured) of "Toy Story" and Miley Cyrus of "Hannah Montana."
"The National Dog Show" was up as well -- 4 percent -- from last year. NBC

But not all publicity is bad publicity. In some cases, it's revived the careers of celebrities who flopped out of the spotlight like so much unsupervised fish. Rick Astley wouldn't have had the chance to perform during the last Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade if the Intern
Fab Pics: The West Indian Labor Day Parade
As soon as I touched down from Atlanta, I hit up the West Indian Parade this past Monday. It was wayyy too crazy, and there were soooo many people out there. West Indians sure know how to party, and party they did. People were out on Eastern Parkway allll day and all night. If any of you ladies missed it, there was a ton of eye candy around that definitely made up for the crazy crowd. There were also appearances by Sweet Mickey (Popular Haitian artist and Martine’s uncle) and Wyclef. Exc

Not much happening in New York City weather today, or much of this week for that matter. A high pressure system parked upstate should keep things sunny, warm and dry through Thursday. Expect highs in the mid 80s each day. Wear plenty of sunscreen if you're going out to the West Indian American Day parade today. Next weekend we may need to concern ourselves with Tropical Storm Hanna.

Rangel, Dinkins and the Never-Ending Parade
Charlie Rangel and David Dinkins perched on the back of a white convertible to ride the length of yesterday's African-American Day Parade on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard in Harlem.
After the parade, when I walked over to Lenox Avenue to catch a ride to City Hall, there they were, still riding on the back of the car in the Sunday afternoon traffic, waving to onlookers and ignoring a scattered honks from other motorists.
I'm not sure about the rules on this kind of ride, but two police officers in an unma
