The biggest challenge for an Oscar winner, be it a writer, actor, or director, is the first project following the ultimate Hollywood triumph. Expectations are so high and buzz is so great, it can create an almost impossible set of standards to live up to. This is the case with the Coen brothers' latest release, "Burn After Reading." Though an entertaining enough way to kill two hours on a Saturday afternoon, you can be sure this will not be the film to earn the duo their next little gold man. The st

Pitt, Clooney Dumb Down For 'Burn After Reading'
TORONTO (AP) - Joel and Ethan Coen know their idiots. They've written every sort of bonehead, nitwit and lamebrain imaginable in both comic and tragic form in such films as "Raising Arizona," ''Fargo," ''The Big Lebowski" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Cast: George Clooney, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, Brad Pitt, Richard Jenkins, Extra thought: I'd say the style of "Burn After Reading" comes close to that of "The Ladykillers" and "Intolerable Cruelty." The plot: Two gym employees try to get rich after accidentally stumbling across the classified files of a CIA analyst. Our quick thoughts: After taking home four Oscars and countless other wins around the world with last year’s spectacular “No Country For Old Men,” Joel an

Live from TIFF: Burn After Reading, Burn Out After Watching
Burn After Reading, the latest from the Coen Brothers, makes its North American debut this year, following last year's rapturous Toronto reception for the Oscar-winning success of the tense, terse No Country for Old Men. After making No Country for Old Men, in perverse Coen-logic, the timing is clearly right for a messy, mean-spirited, profane punchy comedy. Burn After Reading is built around a classic Coen plot -- there's a valuable something out there, and various ill-equipped, dimwitted people see it as
