A bowlful of genres - with a gunslinger who's no Clint Eastwood
SUKIYAKI WESTERN DJANGODirected by Takashi MiikeWritten by Takashi Miike and Masa Nakamura

Take a look at the new Clint Eastwood movie one-sheet starring Angelina Jolie.
When the ambitious wife of a ruthless Presidential candidate finds that she’s inexplicably growing to an enormous size, she becomes the key to securing her husband’s victory - while at the same time secretly fulfilling a horrific desire for the flesh of human babies. Wow! I had no idea that Eastwood was going this way with the story. It sure sounds like it’s a move into more genre territory for him and Jolie, but it still has the lure of Oscar gold written all over it, don’t you t

The Official Changeling Trailer!
It’s out! The official Changeling trailer is out! I knew it was coming fairly soon - why did I know that? Because on the Ellen show yesterday she ran into Clint Eastwood on the lot. He asked Ellen’s to help him choose which movie poster he should use - and the two posters were of the Changeling! Nice way to promote the film without paying for it! Way to go Clint! The Changeling is sure to be a huge hit this year - even though it is about a very sad topic. It covers the story of one mother duri

Changeling Trailer
I worship the ground Clint Eastwood walks on, but even if I didn’t, I would still have to admit that the trailer for Changeling looks freaking amazing. Add the fact that the film stars my pick for the sexiest woman on the planet (even if she does look a little haggard here), Angelina Jolie, and is based on a screenplay written by one of my favorite comicbook writers, J. Michael Straczynski, and what we have is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Changeling hits theatres October 31st, 2008. Cl

Changeling
Though the pedigree--a screenplay from BABYLON 5's J. Michael Straczynski--might suggest a science fiction film, THE CHANGELING is a historical thriller from Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood. Angelina Jolie stars as a mother whose son disappears in 1928 Los Angeles. When he returns months later, she realizes that he is not her child.

Check This Out: Official Poster for Clint Eastwood's Changeling
We saw a new trailer earlier this month and now the much-anticipated Changeling starring Angelina Jolie has an official poster, thanks to Cinematical, ahead of its October 24th release. The film already won an award at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and whenever it's mentioned, the word Oscar usually follows. I have to admit, this could be another big score for director Clint Eastwood, following the success of 2004's Million Dollar Baby. The film also stars John Malkovich, who is one of my pers

Spike Lee Sticks to the Story: A Black Solider Helped Clint Eastwood's "Flag"
The buzz about Spike Lee's Miracle at St. Anna is semi-positive (I've read reviews that laud the production, but say the story gets lost in a few artistic flashes.) Miracle at St. Anna is a fictional account, based on the true story of a group of black soldiers who dogged it out in Italy during World War 2. It's also Spike's way of reminding the world that black soldiers have fought in America's wars even before they were considered citizens of the United States. This summer, Spike Lee complained that Clint

'Changeling' Poster: Exclusive First Look
Click poster to enlargeThe last time Angelina Jolie received an Oscar nod was for playing a mental patient in 1999's Girl, Interrupted, for which she took home the statue for Best Supporting Actress. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, consider this: Winona Ryder -- and not Jolie -- was a box-office draw back then. Now, after years of strong and sometimes overlooked performances (ahem, A Mighty Heart), Jolie is once again receiving battalions of Oscar buzz, this time for her role in Clint Eastw

Spike Lee Ends Feud With Clint Eastwood; Did He Start New One With Judd Apatow?
Few Hollywood folks have picked as many showbiz fights as Spike Lee. So I was amused when I saw he was ending one feud and seeming to start another. I for one can't remember all the spats. But a very public one took place back in 1997 when Lee criticized Quentin Tarantino for using the word “nigger” in movies. More recently, Spike started an international battle with Clint Eastwood. At a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Lee accused him of omitting black soldiers from his two recent movie

Nobel Hopeful Steven Spielberg Brokered Fragile Peace Between Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood [It Can Now Be Told]
During this year's NBA Finals, a courtside power summit at Staples Center provided stirring insight into the intimate camaraderie between Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Eddie Murphy. (You might recall Sylvester Stallone joining in when Katzenberg visited the men's room.) We're learning even more today about that alliance, which, in addition to Spielberg's orotund ref-hating, influenced detente in ways not seen since Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill converged at Yalta. The stakes: Peace between dire

‘The Changeling’ Trailer: Cry Me an Oscar!
Tagline: "I want my son back! I want my son back!" Translation: But I'd take a Golden Globe! The Verdict: Awards bait at its very finest, the latest Clint Eastwood joint attempts to dispel the popularly held belief that all children are pretty much interchangeable. In The Changeling, Angelina Jolie's son gets kidnapped, and when the LAPD can't find him, they just replace him with some other kid and declare the case closed. Jolie's previous portrayal of a woman with an abducted family member (in A Mighty

New Angelina Jolie Trailer - The Changeling
Jolie has based her character on her mother.... ""My mother was very passive in many ways and very, very sweet, but when it came to her children, she was a lion," Jolie has said. "So in many ways, Christine reminded me of my mom, and it was a way to kind of revisit my mother after her passing and spend time with her." Clint Eastwood is directing

Warner Bros. documentary: It's not top of the world, Ma!
Warner Bros. has told many stellar stories. But the studio stumbles with its own in "You Must Remember This: The Warner Bros. Story." The five-hour program is a scrapbook of classic clips and self-congratulation. PBS' "American Masters" presents this superficial salute at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Make no mistake: The catalog is impressive. Warner knows violence, from "Little Caesar" to "Bonnie and Clyde" to "The Dark Knight." The roster

Spike, Clint Declare Cease-Fire
I'll get into this in detail on Friday, but Spike Lee's World War II epic "Miracle at St. Anna'' sadly may be remembered mostly for the director's fued with fellow helmer Clint Eastwood. The two have declared a cease-fire brokered by Steven Spielberg, Lee tells Sandra Guzman in a lengthy interview in Sunday's Pulse section: The most controversial thing about 'Miracle at St. Anna" isn't the movie itself. Instead, it was Lee's harsh words at this year's Cannes Film Festival, dogging Eastwood for not includ

'Miracle' is mired in war clichés
Poor Spike Lee. You just knew the moment he lashed out at Clint Eastwood for leaving black soldiers out of his two-part Iwo Jima epic that he had really put his foot in it. And now here's proof. "Miracle at St. Anna" is Lee's sloppy, absurdly long mashup of combat film clich

Oscar Predictions from the Experts
The Gurus of Gold has posted their initial predictions for the Oscars at Movie City News.  From the charts, that include the heavyweights of Oscar analysts, it’s obvious that it is way too early to really declare a frontrunner.  But leading the way so far is Ron Howard’s Frost/Nixon, followed closely behind by Milk, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire, and Revolutionary Road.  Those who are saying, “What about The Dark Knight?” no need to panic.  From the cha
