Video of the Day: Dana Carvey Returns To TV
We try our best to avoid the painful comedy that is the Tonight Show With Jay Leno. But Wednesday night's show, with Dana Carvey, was the best we've come across in years.Leno is best when things either go wrong or when he loses the cymbals-crashing punchlines. The other night, he was loose, off-the-cuff, and on a roll... and then Dana Carvey took over...Now we realized why we missed him so much since he left SNL and the spotlight...via Hulu. Related:While You Were Sleeping: Will Smith'

McCain to Report for Brutal Late Show Ass-Kicking [Feuds]
Now that everything else has failed for him, John McCain is crawling back to David Letterman to appear on the Late Show this Thursday, after weaseling out of an earlier appearance under the lie that he was needed in Washington to work on the Wall Street bailout. McCain's people are, well, stupid. If he'd appeared when he was supposed to, Letterman would have treated him to a gentle ribbing while the candidate tried to get his talking points out. Now that McCain has lied to the famously testy talk show host

The Disastrous RNC Protest Videos
"There may be no one better" to underscore John McCain's anti-terror credentials, wrote The Hill yesterday of RNC keynoter Rudy Giuliani. This morning, the convention tossed Giuliani to the curb... for Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman? Giuliani is even in St. Paul, and may speak on Wednesday. Somehow also the Republicans do not know if they'll be addressed by video by President Bush. This is sad! Meanwhile, there are protests, and they are not going well at all. Unless you consider getting beaten on the stre

McCain Scores Crucial Endorsement From One Half of 'The Cutting Edge' [Bellwethers]
On John McCain's last fundraiser jaunt through Hollywood, he attracted a motley crew of the men and women who make up the industry's smallest club: Republicans. Hollywood titans like Wilford Brimley, Craig T. Nelson, and Jon Cryer (who was just gathering information!) all turned out to support the candidate who thinks "celebrity" is a dirty word and has the endorsement roster to prove it. So what glittering surprises did McCain have up his sleeve for last night's McCain/Palin fundraiser across the street fr

Letterman to give McCain another shot
The Republican candidate bailed on Letterman for an interview with Katie Couric on Sept. 24 and lied about it - then got caught when Letterman’s staff spotted him on the CBS live feed with McCain chitchatting with Couric pre-interview. Letterman said he first felt like a “patriot” to let McCain off his commitment to deal with the economy but “now I’m feeling like an ugly date.” But McCain will have another shot to get back into the host’s good graces Thursday for
