Mario Van Peebles: Mario Van Peebles is whipping up an action thriller called Kerosene Cowboys, and the cast is about to be set. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Cam Gigandet, Shane West, and Rachael Leigh Cook are in negotiations to star in the flick that follows "hard-living pilots of an elite Navy attack squadron." Gigandet will be a "hot-shot pilot," West will play the nemesis who used to be his best friend, and Cook will wrap things up as a journalist who dates Gigandet. At the very least, it looks like a welcome vacation from some of Cook's recent work (from The House of Yes to Blind Ambition ... my, how they fall). Vin Diesel is all about the returns lately. First came the latest Fast and Furious pic, and now more triple-X. Variety reports that bo Read full story at www.cinematical.com

Like a Bad ‘Law & Order,’ ‘Righteous Kill’ With Al Pacino, Robert De Niro Lacks ‘Heat’
CHICAGO– Last fall, Francis Ford Coppola made the comment that Al Pacino and Robert De Niro (along with Jack Nicholson) had lost their ambition. Coppola essentially said they have been phoning in their performances and picking safer movies. “Righteous Kill” could be the case study to that argument.Rating: 2.0/5.0You have Pacino and De Niro together again. They’re both playing a cop, which is a role they’ve both done time and time again. You give them a script from Russell Gewirtz. He’s the scrib

'Babylon A.D.'
The gritty world-weariness that informs the first 10 minutes of the new sci-fi adventure "Babylon A.D." promises something along the lines of the daring, socially inquisitive "Children of Men," with the bonus of Vin Diesel killing people. Unfortunately, the film quickly degenerates into chases and gunfights and not much else. This is not a terrible movie, but it's too familiar by half and too confusing by a third. Alicia Keys Sounds Off on ‘Quantum’ Song, Says She Wants To Be A Bond Girl
Alicia Keys just got done recording “Another Way to Die,” the new theme song for the latest Bond film, “Quantum of Solace.” But her real ambition? “I think I can be the next Bond girl,” the singer and actress laughed when we caught up with her recently at the Toronto Film Festival. For now, of course, Keys will have to settle for co-creating with White Stripes frontman Jack White the kick-ass opening number in “Solace,” which I cannot mention without also mentioning that it’s the wor

Kurt Loder Reviews Al Pacino And Robert De Niro’s ‘Righteous Kill’
FROM MTV.COM: Meet Tom “Turk” Cowan (Robert De Niro). Turk loves his job. He loves the way it allows him to combine his fiercest passion with his favorite activity. “I hate scumbags,” he says. “And I like killing people.” Turk is a cop, and a hothead, and over the course of his 30 years as a detective with the NYPD, he and his genial, wisecracking partner, David “Rooster” Fisk (Al Pacino), have put away a lot of scumbags. Lately, though, it appears that Turk

‘Twilight’ Stars Get Cut Off At The MTV VMAs [w/Video]
I suffered through teh MTV VIdeo Music Awards not to hear the music (oh lord, no), but to see the presenters. As I Tweeted earlier, the VMAs would be a pretty cool show if only there was no music. Anyhow, an hour into the show, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Cam Gigandet, and Taylor Lautner, stars of Summit Entertainment’s highly anticipated Twilight, came out to introduce the live performance for best rock nominee Paramore. The intro was incredibly brief and all the actors got to say their lin

Vin Diesel, Rob Cohen return to ‘XXX’
The studio is in discussions with producer Joe Roth for a new version of “XXX,” one that would bring back Vin Diesel as star and Rob Cohen as director. The duo teamed on the 2002 original, which starred Diesel as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast who gets drafted by the government for a dangerous mission. Roth controls the property because the original film was made by his Revolution Studios, which was also behind “XXX: State of the Union,” a sequel that starred Ice Cube an

Is this still going on? This whole drama of Alicia Keys/Swizz Beats/Mashonda thing is like the black version of Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. Honestly, nothing in Hollywood lasts forever. OK, only a few marriages survived, but that’s not the point. I call “Bulls–t!” when reading Swizz Beats’ statement regarding his marital woes and saying that Alicia is not to blame. “I can no longer ignore the harmful rumors, that my friend Alicia Keys is in any wa

Alicia Keys the “other woman” in Swizz Beatz divorce case?
Swizz has been brushing off rumors that Grammy-winner Alicia had anything to do with his split from Mashonda, his wife of almost five years and mother of his 1-year-old son, Kasseem Dean Jr. But Mashonda isn’t buying it. Last week, she was incensed when she heard about the birthday party Alicia threw for Swizz at midtown’s Louis Vuitton store, where guests included Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Robin Thicke. “Alicia introduced Swizz as ‘The man of the hour and my boo,’”
