Laurence Fishburne: [Photo: © 2009 CBS, all rights reserved] Last night, we saw the third part of the all- CSI crossover trilogy. I was so excited to see Laurence Fishburne on all three CSI series, and I knew the story would be gripping. I was not disappointed about either. But I felt just a bit like the three parts were a bit too different. Is it just me? I get it that the same group was taking girls and forcing them into Prostitution and when they refused to cooperate they would dismember them and dump...

In praise of the TV crossover...: PHOTO
One of TV’s greatest traditions is back with us this week… Tonight’s “CSI: Miami” marks the start of a week-long crossover plot that will have Laurence Fishburne’s “CSI” character, Dr. Raymond Langston, appearing on all three of CBS’s “CSI” franchise shows between now and Thursday. The crossover — tying separate series together via plot device or characters — has long been a staple of TV programming, particularly when...

Fishburne glad he turned down Pulp Fiction
Laurence Fishburne has no regrets about turning down a role in Pulp Fiction, because he could never have played ruthless hitman Jules Winnfield as well as his pal Samuel L. Jackson. Director Quentin Tarantino approached Fishburne to star alongside John Travolta in his 1994 crime thriller - but the Apocalypse Now star declined the part. The movie went on to be a huge hit, reigniting Travolta's career and earning Jackson an Oscar nomination. But Fishburne isn't jealous, insisting the...

'CSI' makeover works out well: PHOTO
"CSI" executive producer Carol Mendelsohn was fuming. The woman in charge of arguably the most successful show in television over the past decade was not happy about a, well, Wardrobe malfunction. A few hours earlier, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler, asked about recent cast changes on "CSI," joked that Laurence Fishburne's character was undergoing "a little bit of a Wardrobe makeover." The problem was that not all the reporters in the room understood that it was a joke. And some...

-CSI' crossover ends: Which of the three episodes was the best?
And so the Great CSI Crossover Experiment That William Petersen Never Would Have Agreed To ended last night, with Laurence Fishburne’s “Dr. Ray,” as Horatio Caine insisted on calling him (really, are they writing that character to intentionally be a condescending irritant?) coming back to CSI and Las Vegas. He’d been to Miami and New York, where they play other Who tunes for their theme songs, trying to solve the disappearance of

Fishburne Recalls Brando, 'Apocalypse Now' and Magic Tricks on 'Jimmy Fallon'
On last night's 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,' 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' star Laurence Fishburne talked about working with screen great Marlon Brando while filming 'Apocalypse Now' at the tender of age of 14. According to Fishburne, working with Brando was an experience involving magic tricks, head-scratching wonder at being in the presence of a larger-than-life movie legend, and the enjoyment of -- putting it delicately -- herbal refreshment. -CSI' crossover last night: Did Laurence Fishburne learn to talk like David Caruso?
The Great CSI Crossover That William Petersen Never Would Have Agreed To started last night, as CSI ’s Laurence Fishburne went to CSI: Miami to watch David Caruso do his sunglasses-and-murmur thing up real close. Fishburne’s Ray Langston didn’t show up until almost mid-way through the hour, but by the three-quarter mark, he had already adopted Horatio Caine’s low-volume, no-contractions, pregnant-pause style: “Horatio, I am not leaving until we solve this...

Your Daily Fug!

The government seriously needs to wake up and smell the cottage cheese fumes.  Contain that shit in a shell and d

BWE SLANG: Becoming Ozzed
"Becoming Ozzed" (idiomatic expression) -- When a movie becomes so thoroughly and repeatedly lampooned throughout pop culture, that when you go back to the original, it seems like a joke. The expression is derived from The Wizard of Oz, the oldest and purest example of this phenomenon; nearly every single thing that happens in The Wizard of Oz -- from "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto" to fire for the Scarecrow to the Lion's voice to "I'll get you my pretty..." to the flying monkeys to click your
