And The Golden Globes Go To ... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
The Hollywood Foreign Press announced their Golden Globe nominations and they must be getting as old as the Emmy and Oscar nominators. Usually the Globes can be counted on for some fresh picks but this year the choices are pretty straight-laced and staid. Especially since all the critics awards are pouring out and the love seems to be spreading all over for outside-the-box fare (listed all at the bottom). Here's the main Golden Globe nominations:BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMAThe Curious Case of Benjamin Butto

2009 Golden Globes: Good Year For Jokers, Midnight Tokers [The Gold Standards]
The nominees for the 2009 Golden Globes were announced this morning, and there were a few surprises. The nomination of Tom Cruise for Tropic Thunder drew giggles from the crowd, as did James Franco's nod for Pinapple Express. Apparently, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association thought Franco's performance as a lovable pot dealer was much more powerful than his portrayal of Harvey Milk's lover. Golden Globes Emphasize Star Power With Film Nominations
CHICAGO– The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards this morning and jaws dropped at some of their choices and some of their exclusions. Somewhat surprisingly, “The Dark Knight” was left out of the Best Picture category, but far more shockingly, “Milk” was also off the short list. Both films did get a single acting nomination - for Heath Ledger and Sean Penn, respectively - but the confusing awards season was made increasi

Golden Globes Noms Boost Benjamin Button, Doubt and Frost/Nixon
Universal, Miramax and Paramount/Warners are heaving huge sighs of relief that the Golden Globes rewarded Frost/Nixon, Doubt and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with five nominations apiece. The three films had been virtually overlooked by influential critics' groups in L.A. and N.Y. this week. Only Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button were nominated in the Globes' best feature drama category, though, which tends to carry more weight than the comedy category. Doubt scored four acting noms, plus screenplay fo

At least Sean Penn is up for best actor (drama) and November cover boy James Franco (looking sweaty and stony, above) got a best actor (comedy or musical) nod for his lucid performance as the incorrigible drug dealer, Saul Silver, in Pineapple Express. That's about it, though! It goes to show: not all that glitters is gold...en globe worthy. (Pun'd!)He

Angelina Jolie 'Honored' to Receive Golden Globe nomination
The Tomb Raider star is up against Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married; Meryl Streep for Doubt; Kristin Scott Thomas for I've Loved You So Long; and Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road. Snap Judgment: The Golden Globes Nominations
A couple of hours have passed since the Golden Globe nominations were announced, and yet even with the extra time to mull things over, I still feel about the same as I did when I first saw the list: kinda baffled. They're all over the place! James Franco now has a major award nomination from a movie about pot! There's a category that's basically Neil Patrick Harris vs. HBO! Things are nutty this year. Here are a few of my snap judgments:First of all: This is going to be one awfully fun group of people drink
