"We Support George McCain For President"
For our last post about the RNC (thank The Lord Jesus That Watches Over Conservatives for that!), we wanted to show you a video that we think summarizes the feelings on the floor of the entire convention. Those feelings, conveniently, can be melted down to one line: some Republicans are staunch in their support of Bush and McCain, while others just wanted America to forget about Junior...This video is one in which I, Scanner Brian, must, in the interest of full disclosure, admit I was participant (I g

Live Blogging the RNC - God Help Us
Oh how I love live blogging. Not only do I not have to go searching for some good gossip, I get to write fast and not edit myself, throwing annoying nuisances like spelling and grammar out the window. So why not live blog Sarah Palin’s address to the Republican National Convention? Lori has left the room to balance our check book, not able to stomach the lies and hot air. But I am a trooper so here we go.

Obama considered joining military, regrets abortion answer

During separate televised interviews last month, Pastor Rick Warren asked the two presidential candidates when a baby gets human rights. Obama replied that the question is “above my pay grade,” while John McCain won love from the right by saying quickly, “At the moment of conception.”
Now, Obama tells ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in an interview taped for “This Week”: “What I intended to say is that, as a Christian, I have a lot of humility about understanding
Jon Voight Loves John McCain and Sarah Palin; Angelina Jolie, Not So Much
Jon Voight supplied the superstar celebrity quotient that came to the Republican National Convention this week. The only other four celebrity mega-star Republicans, Tom Selleck, wife Jillie Mack, Jerry Bruckheimer and Patricia Heaton, all stayed home tending to their humongous careers on the big and small screens.
Voight showed his GOP candidates some love, but when asked by the StarTribune about his famous daughter he replied, "Who knows

On The Decision To Intervene On Behalf Of Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac
Intervention was necessary. I’m inclined to support some form of intervention to prevent a long-term, much bigger crisis...We are not bailing out shareholders and investors and management. They were making a lot of money because of the lack of regulation.
Sarah Palin's Pregnancy Decision Map
I found this online and thought that it was hilarious. I said from the beginning that Trig was her son, but she had poor decision making skills. Pray that John McCain lives to be a hundred if he is elected. And I'm sick of the phrase, "Hockey Mom."

Band blasts McCain’s campaign for lifting song without permission
Members of the band Heart have criticised presidential hopeful John McCain for using their hit song ‘Barracuda’ as his campaign’s theme song without their permission.
Republican leader McCain chose the track as the theme song for his running mate Sarah Palin, whose high-school nickname was “Sarah Barracuda”, courtesy her forceful style of playing basketball.
Now, Ann and Nancy Wilson are furious with the fact that their song has been linked in with the McCain campaign trail,
McCain takes on GOP and Bush along with Obama
AP - Barack Obama isn’t John McCain’s only opponent. Sometimes McCain sounds like he’s running almost as hard against President Bush and the Republican Party as he is against Obama, his Democratic rival for the White House.
The GOP is guilty of indulging in a spending spree of taxpayers’ money, McCain laments. They haven’t solved huge problems such as the looming insolvency of Social Security and Medicare, passing on huge IOUs and perplexing issues to future generations instea
Palin offers first television interview to ABC

McCain's paradoxical approach: analyst
William Galston, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, has an incisive critique of Sen. John McCain's acceptance speech from Thursday night. It's worth reading since it captures what he calls "the McCain paradox."
The paradox includes this: that McCain sounded the trumpet for bipartisanship but has been following a very partisan strategy, including his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a running mate, a move designed to excite the Republican conservative base.
And while McCain called for ne
US voters keen to know how McCain plans to change political work ethics in Washington
Republican presidential nominee John McCain’s clarion call for “Change, Change, Change” during his acceptance speech in St. Paul, Minnesota on Wednesday is all very well, but according to a New York Times editorial, he will have to tell the discerning American voter what he plans to actually do to get the corridors of power in Washington working again.
The paper says that the G.O.P message that: “Washington is not working” has a ring of truth to it, and adds that the city̵
John McCain Putting Barack Obama On His Ticket
The former drummer of the ska band The Toasters is drawing attention these days for a unique blend of election year bipartisanship: a resemblance to Barack Obama and the name John McCain. He says he was appalled that they shared the name. He claims that he has never used the na

We have been reading, and even writing about the trials and tribulations of Alec for a while now. And yes of course, I even wrote about his verbal attack on NBC this Friday. But, when the man takes some time to count to ten, and then he speaks, he actually has some very funny and poignant thoughts.
And here are some excerpts from his blog: “I thought McCain was the next Bush. I said so, like countless others, on this blog. More war. More debt while keeping taxes low and mocking the Democrats who want
