Brad Pitt and George Clooney Burn-Up Weekend Box Office

Brad Pitt: Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and George Clooney have worked their box office magic again, drawing droves of audiences to the theaters to make 'Burn After Reading' the No. 1 movie this weekend with $19.4 million in ticket sales. The comedy, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen of 'No Country for Old Men' fame, was the highest grossing opening for the directing duo, the Associated Press reports. The superstar cachet of actors Pitt and Clooney, who also fired-up the screen with their 'Oceans' films, may be one reason why the film revived a recent dip in box-office numbers. Strongly rounding out this weekend’s numbers were Tyler Perry's 'The Family That Preys,' debuting at No. 2 with $18 million. The drama, starring Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard, centers around the lives of two families from two different socio-economic classes. Coming in at No. 3 with $16.5 million was 'Righteous Kill,' starring A-list icons Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. The acting legends play New York City detectives determined to solve a murder mystery. 'The Women' -- a comedy-drama boasting an all-star cast including Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, and Eva Mendes -- grossed $10.1 million at No. 4. The comedy, which is a remake of a 1939 George Cukor film, follows a group of women who form a special bond after one of them faces troubles in her marriage. At No. 5, the Anna Faris comedy, 'The House Bunny' raked in $4.3 million, followed by the adventure-comedy 'Tropic Thunder' at No. 6 with $4.2 million earned. The record-breaking, Batman sequel 'The Dark Knight,' came in at No. 7 with $4 million. Action flick 'Bangkok Dangerous,' starring Nicolas Cage, earned a cool $2.4 million at No. 8, followed by thriller 'Traitor' at No. 9 with $2.1 million. 'Death Race,' an action-adventure film starring Jason Statham, earned $2 million at No. 10. The total box-office figures are expected to surpass $100 million and break a seven-week dip in ticket revenue, says the AP.[Read full story on The Insider] Read full story at www.theinsider.com

THE FAMILY THAT PREYS Review
THE FAMILY THAT PREYS is yet another accomplishment in the preachy world of Tyler Perry. The writer/director who always puts gospel themes and Christianity in his movies takes us back again to the meaning of family and marriage. This is… one of my favorites movie of the year but I’d be careful to put it as one of the best because it could’ve been tweaked and tightened a bit more here and there. Nevertheless, the story will strike a chord with Tyler Perry’s fans. Wealthy socialite C
