Sundance Film Festival : Dear Ted:
What's going on with Téa and Billy Bob? I saw pics of them at the Sundance festival, and I could swear there is more than a friendship relationship going on between those two. I haven't seen Téa look so happy in a long time. She certainly doesn't look like that with David in recent pics of them together.

Sundance Film ‘Mystery Team’ Still has not been picked up!?
What in the hell is this crap!? There are all these indie films getting picked up at Sundance, but one of the best and most marketable films has yet to get bought by a distributor. I thought for sure the studios would be jumping all over this thing because of Sundance mega hits like ‘Napoleon Dynamite’. Mystery Team was one of the best films up at Sundance and one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. It was way better than ‘Napoleon Dynamite’!

SXSW Watch: ‘Objectified’ Doc Goes Inside Apple
Now that Sundance is over it is time to look ahead to the next major American film festival, South by Southwest. The fest will take place in FSR’s new hometown, Austin, Texas, from March 13-21. And while the full festival lineup won’t be available until next week, we already have some information on some of the films that will be playing there. One documentary, Objectified from director Gary Hustwit ( Helvetica ), is all about industrial design. And as Fimmaker Magazine’s S

Sundance Reviews: The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, Peter and Vandy, The Clone Returns Home
Strange, sweet and a little sci-fi. That is how this next selection of Sundance 2009 selections role. As we continue to roll through the end of my coverage of Sundance’s 2009 frame, we take a look at a wildly experimental and odd little film, a sweet romantic comedy telling us a familiar story in an unfamiliar way and a Japanese sci-fi movie that finds some deeper meaning.

Check This Out: Special Delivery from Jason Voorhees!
While I was away at Sundance, my roommate called and told me that a box had showed up that said "open slowly" on it. I wasn't sure what the heck it was, but when I finally got home I found out. Warner Brothers had sent over a special Jason Voorhees mask for the upcoming Friday the 13th, complete with classic sound effects and a postcard for Camp Crystal Lake. I finally get to see the finished film on Friday (how fitting), which makes this quite timely. This should definitely make Friday the 13th fans gidd

Sundance Review: Push: Based on a novel by Sapphire
Every year in Park City, the folks who program the Sundance Film Festival try their hardest to save the best for last. The last Sunday of the festival is always reserved for screenings of the award winning films. And assuming the festival’s jury picks the right movies, it usually leads to late-fest audiences being delighted with some of the most impressive films of that particular year. And as a member of the press, I am only ever able to request two tickets for that final day. The safe be

Sundance Spotlight: Treevenge
Of all the movies that play every year at the Sundance Film Festival, it is the shorts that really don’t get enough love. Thankfully, the ‘dance programmers put some of the better shorts in front of certain movies. This brilliant little short, Treevenge , played to the raucous crowds that lined up to see midnight screenings of the Nazi Zombie flick Dead Snow . Treevenge is an awesome slice of horror from the guys at Yer Dead Productions, the same lot that created the now infamous

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's Sugar Trailer Debut
If you love baseball, this is the movie for you! Sugar follows Dominican born baseball pitcher Miguel "Sugar" Santos (played by Algenis Perez Soto), who gets recruited to play in the minor leagues in the US. It's an incredible look at the life of these born-to-play baseball players from the Dominican Republic and the culture shock they get when they arrive in America to start playing in the minor leagues. As great as this film is, it really doesn't go anywhere in the end, which left me a bit unsatisfied w

Why Grace Matters: An Open Letter to Anchor Bay
Dear Anchor Bay,I wanted to write this letter on behalf of the movie Grace that I not only have had the distinct pleasure in getting to cover for the last nine months but also screened twice while attending the Sundance Film Festival last week.As a horror journalist, let me first say that a movie like Grace is a rare find in terms of genre fare. More often than not, horror films these days fall into the remake, sequel, or the just plain unimaginative realm. Most lack passion and are driven purely from a pro

Is 'Youth in Revolt' Being Pushed Back ... Again?
Oh look, it's a comedy from The Weinstein Co. that's about to have its release date pushed back for a second time. Who woulda thunk it? Well, considering that Youth in Revolt was supposed to hit theaters in February and we still haven't received photos, a poster or a trailer, it's fairly obvious the film isn't going to make its second date after originally eying a December '08 release. Though no official word has come down yet, according to several different sources it's looking like Revolt is going for ano

Kristen Stewart Hangs With Joan Jett, Preps For ‘Runaways’ Biopic
Last month, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart made big news with the announcement that she’d soon be portraying another headstrong, no-nonsense tough girl with a disarming beauty and a wicked attitude: the one and only Joan Jett. Recently we caught up with KStew at Sundance to get her thoughts on “New Moon” her upcoming film “Adventureland” and the biopic that will soon have her putting another dime in the jukebox, baby.

Sundance Reviews: The Yes Men Fix the World, No Impact Man, We Live in Public
One of the biggest secrets about the Sundance Film Festival is the quality of its documentaries — and though Robert Redford and crew try hard to highlight the exquisite non-fiction section of their yearly independent library, the doc categories are often overshadowed by the bigger, more accessible mainstream releases. But if you think about it, Sundance is the place for docs. It has been home to films such as Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me , Eugene Jarecki’s insightful WWII d

Cuba Gooding Jr. Reportedly Stole A Pizza At The Sundance Film Festival
Cuba Gooding Jr. reportedly got so drunk he stole a pizza. The "Jerry Maguire" actor was seen at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah looking worse for wear and boasting about his stolen food, much to the amazement of onlookers. One source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "He was wandering down Main Street with two shopping bags from 7-Eleven and a pizza box." "He was screaming that he had stolen the pizza from someone and kept offering slices to random people on street. No one really wan

How Am I Going To Beat 96 Stage Shows This Year?
I don't want to steal away from ModFab's Stage Addiction thunder but I'm going to go on a Theatre linking binge right now, so bear with me or just wait until I get back to my regular TV programing/posting. So I saw 96 shows last year on stage and I doubt I'll surpass that this year especially as I should probably save my money a bit more this year with the current tanking economy, but I'm sure I'll still try! (So far I'm at 2, but then again, I was at 1 this time last year).I mean, I know I'll already be go

70mm Retrospective at Berlinale
Film is slowly dying. I don’t mean that the industry is dying (though there are arguments both in support and refuting that fact) I mean that the screening of film seems to be a dying thing. I must admit that my eye can often not discern the difference between film and digital projection but after [...]

Sienna Miller Criticized For Her Unruly Hair And Bad Teeth During Vogue Cover Photoshoot
Sienna Miller has been criticized for her unruly hair and bad teeth. The actress appears in "The September Issue," a documentary following U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour as she puts out the September 2007 edition of the famed magazine, and shows staff despairing over their cover star. The documentary debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this week and one viewer said: "It must be awful for Sienna to see. Anna keeps complaining she is too 'toothy' and the other staff are worried she has too many
