This is the first album where his artistry seems fully realized, both in terms of subject matter and performance. Witty, balanced and highly charged." [Paste] • "It would be fitting if Folds never found his way to normal; if this littlest hobo continued to produce his peculiarly open, often majestic and occasionally transcendental brand of potent piano pop—songs which give a particular personal take on the universal truths about lost love we ca

We need heros and we’ll even take one from the earnest, naïve late ’90s: Ben Folds plays at Terminal 5, providing a reprieve for those of us getting by on Klonopin and vodka until November. (Note to self: Flights to Toronto leave J.F.K. daily.) Ben Folds Five Play Reinhold Messner Reunion Show
A couple weeks (and change) ago we reported that despite their other projects, Ben Folds Five were reuniting as part of MySpace Music's "Front To Back" series to play The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner in its entirety at UNC-Chapel Hill's Memorial Hall. We weren't lying, it happened last night. It was Darren Jesse, Robert Sledge and Tim & Eric bud Ben F's first performance together in almost a decade. So far we only have the words of hardcore fans to go by, but it sounds like they did a good job

Ben Folds Five Revive “Reinhold Messner” at Inaugural MySpace “Front to Back” Show
One of the highlights of the Ben Folds Five reunion show Thursday night on the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill came during the band’s performance of its final single, “Army.” It’s the quintessential college-rock song in which the protagonist ponders leaving school. When Folds sang the line, “I thought about the Army — I dropped out and joined a band instead,” the packed house of college students and longtime followers let out a deafening roar of a

New Releases: Ben Folds, Dear and the Headlights, Bleeding Through
I’m always ready for a new Ben Folds release. Anberlin has released the same album four times now. The Nightwatchman (a.k.a. Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello) has a new album that’s sure to be protest-a-licious. And I’m admittedly a fan of Joshua Radin’s Zach Braff-core. Other than that, maybe I’ll check out the new T.I. and Bleeding Through albums for kicks. Nothing else looks very interesting. :: Absentee, Victory Shorts (Memphis Industries) :: Amon Amarth,

DINNER’S READY!: 9/30/08 New Releases
The clear winner in this week’s new releases round-up has to be T.I. with his newest album Paper Trail.  While it may not rival Lil’ Wayne’s The Carter III in units sold, it certainly is the best rap album to be released since Kanye’s Graduation.  An incredible collection spanning from dance floor to radio and everywhere in-between.  Check for my review later this afternoon, but for now, here’s a list of some big names coming out today (I love the beginning of the last sales
