Barack Obama opens up about his pop culture favorites
Celebrifi - 7th Aug 2008
David Archuleta:
Barack Obama opens up for
Entertainment Weekly about his pop culture favorites.
Some excerpts:
Entertainment Weekly: A lot of your pop culture tastes are already listed on your Facebook page -- we know you like the first two Godfather movies and are a big SportsCenter fan -- but we want to get a little more specific and probing.
Barack Obama: Absolutely, sure.
EW: For instance, who's your favorite movie or TV president?
BO: You know who was a great movie president?
Jeff Bridges in The Contender. That was a great movie president. He was charming and essentially an honorable person, but there was a rogue about him. The way he would order sandwiches -- he was good at that.
EW: Is that one of the things you're looking forward to? Confounding the White House kitchen staff with obscure sandwich requests?
BO: Absolutely. I want to test them. I want to see if I can get any sandwich I want.
EW: What's the last movie you saw in a theater?
BO: Oh, goodness. It's almost certainly a children's movie. The last few times I've gone it's been with my kids. I'm trying to think back — maybe Shrek 3?
EW: What'd you think of it?
BO:Not as good as the original.
EW: Who controls the remote in your house —you or
Michelle?
BO:I usually have some clout when it comes to the remote. I'm not home a lot, so
Michelle is usually willing to give it up. The only time I grab for the remote is when a game is on.
EW: So neither of you are fascists when it comes to the remote...
BO: If I tell her, ''Sweetie, we've got game 5 of the NBA finals on,'' she's willing to give me a little slack. Most of the time, though, the TV is on HGTV, and I suffer that silently.
EW: Are there any shows you two argue about?
BO:She likes American Idol, her and the girls, in a way that I don't entirely get.
EW: Have you or any member of your family ever voted for an Idol?
BO: I think the girls did vote in last year's contest. I don't know who they voted for, but I recall that a vote was cast. They were very excited about it. [
Obama's camp won't comment, but rumor has it that his daughters, Malia and Sasha, were big
David Archuleta fans last season.]
EW:What's the last videogame you played?
BO: Pong. That gives you a sense of my age. I loved that game.

Ludacris' Obama song unlikely to alienate voters
Ludacris' new song, "Politics as Usual," may have cost him one of his biggest fans, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
And for good reason: It points up the dilemma facing the nation's potential first black president, who wants the support of the influential hip-hop community but needs to steer clear of the controversy so commonly associated with its music.
Ludacris' "Politics as Usual" alludes to an imminent victory for Obama by handing out major put-downs to his rivals. It dismisses Hilla

Grammy Award-winning rapper Ludacris has released a new song called "Politics: Obama is Here", in which he disparages Hillary Clinton, Jesse Jackson and John McCain but has nothing but praise for Barack Obama, whom he asks to make him his vice president or give him "a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer."

Obama on Paris: Never Met The Woman
Barack Obama didn’t let a little rain keep him from ribbing John McCain about his latest anti-Obama ad at a Missouri cookout — ridiculing the McCain campaign for comparing him to Paris Hilton.
“Since they don’t have any new ideas the only strategy they’ve got in this election is to try to scare you about me,” Obama told the crowd of 100 gathered under a picnic shelter. He’d used that line of attack throughout the day.
“They’re going to send out nasty emails. The latest one, they’ve
New Yorker's 'terrorist' Obama cover under fire
In a campaign in which Senator Barack Obama touching fists with his wife sparked a "controversy", the New Yorker's latest cover was never going to slip onto newsstands unnoticed.
In a satirical swipe at the crazy rumours about the presidential candidate and his wife, Michelle, the liberal magazine depicts them as terrorists in the oval office. Obama is in Muslim clothing; Michelle, in an Afro and military garb, has an AK-47 slung over he shoulder.
Naturally, the fist bumping is there, along with a por

Obama rejects Ludacris rap lyrics
A song by rap star Ludacris criticising Barack Obama's opponents has been called "outrageously offensive" by the US presidential candidate's campaign.
Politics As Usual calls President Bush "mentally handicapped", and insults both Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
"Ludacris is a talented individual but he should be ashamed of these lyrics," said Mr Obama's spokesman Bill Burton.
The rap star's publicist initially declined to comment, reported the Associated Press.
Obama or McCain?
Yep, I went there. I want to know who you guys are voting for! I am NOT going to tolerate people bashing each other, or calling Obama a terrorrist, etc.
As most of you know, I am voting for Obama. I am not a fan of republican views (look where it's got us now!) and am ready for a democrat in office. Sure, I will lose money out of it, because voting republican would probably HELP my pocket book, but voting for Obama helps my family, who are a bunch of blue collar badasses.
I was shocked at how republicans
The race card: Did Obama play it or is McCain playing games?
John McCain thinks Barack Obama is playing the race card.
The Republican presidential candidate and his staff were upset by a comment Obama made on the campaign trail.
During a campaign speech, the Illinois Democrat told supporters Republicans were trying to make voters scared of him.
“What they’re saying is, well, we know we’re not very good, but you can’t risk electing Obama. You know, he’s new, he’s — he doesn’t look like the other presidents on the currency. He — you know,
