2008 Razzie Nominating Ballot Calls Into Question Seriousness of Awards

The Spirit Misses Razzie Nomination By A Hair [Razzies]
The nominations for all of the worst movies of 2008 are out. And lucky, lucky Frank Miller missed the nominations for the worst movie in the history in the world by a few days.Unfortunately, The Spirit came out too late to make the Razzie nomination ballot, according to the site:ALTHOUGH IT FLOPPED TOO LATE to MAKE OUR NOMINATING BALLOT, WE THOUGHT ITS UNDER ACHIEVEMENTS EARNED IT a PLACE on OUR FORUM. Frank Miller is a lucky man, but I'm not going to forget the sins this movie committed that easily. See yo
2008 Razzies Nominations Announced
I’m not a hige fan of the Academy Awards or any of those serious awards ceremonies if I’m honest. I know that’s probably not a good career move as a movie blogger but it’s the truth so what the hell. I just can’t get excited about giving awards to actors who have already been paid a huge amount of money to Star in the movies. It’s like they need even more praise and reward than they already get just for being a celebrity.
So what I prefer is those spoof awards ceremonie
Razzie Nominations Serve A Shocking Snub To 'The Spirit' [Snubs]
newVideoPlayer("/spirit_consid.flv", 506, 423,""); We've just had a look at the official nomination ballot for the Razzies, and we're still reeling from the unexpected shutout of frontrunner The Spirit. We'd had high expectations that no film could surpass The Spirit's unimpeachable Razzie campaign, which featured a 15% fresh Tomatometer rating, a viral "For Your Consideration" ad, and Samuel L. Jackson in a series of fur coats and Nazi costumes. And yet! MTV writer Larry Carroll got his hands on the offici
Pick 2008's Worst Movies
Every year as Golden Globes are shined and Oscars are polished, there is one award that no celebrity is interested in receiving: The Golden Razzie, which goes to the year's worst movies and actors. Actually, I shouldn't say "no celebrity" since in 2005 Halle Berry awesomely ascended the stage to claim her worst actress prize for "Catwoman" - check out this clip of her reflecting on the moment.
Anyhoo, this year's nominees have been released and, per usual, the choices are pretty spot on, although, Reese
Razzie Award Nominations - The Worst Movies and Performances of 2008
The 29th Annual Razzie Award Nominations have been released. For those who don’t know, the Razzies cellebrate the worst films and performances of the year. I’m surprised to see the hate for Rambo and Sylvester Stallone, which were nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst On Screen Couple (Sylvester Stallone & His Ego… very funny), Worst Director, Worst Sequel and Worst Career Achievement as a lot of my friends enjoyed that film. I’ve included my personal choices below in bold.
Paris Hilton Nominated for Worst Actress Award
Paris Hilton has been nominated as the worst actress of 2008 at this years Razzie awards. Yikes!
Paris has some stiff competition. She’s up against Jessica Alba, The cast of The Women, Camilla Belle, Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson, Diane Keaton, Jennifer Connelly, Zooey Deschanel, Vanessa Hudgens, Eva Longoria-Parker, and Reese Witherspoon.
Other categories include Worst Picture, [...]

The Playlist's Worst Films Of 2008
Culture keeps dumbing down and aiming more and more for the crotch of the lowest common denominator, right? Big fucking surprise. Obviously it's because the bleating sheep of society are by and large an incredibly stupid herd and 2008 didn't disappoint the ham and eggers/joe jobbers who love a base blow 'em up spectacle, a painfully unfunny comedy, or a special effects laden disaster with no story. The more basic, the better. Without further ado, the WORST films of 2008 as picked by The Playlist members. If
MSN produces surpringly somewhat accurate list on the year 2008
Maybe 2007 left us spoiled. With future classics like "Zodiac," "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" gracing our screens, 2008, so far, feels a little less ... significant. But that was on first glimpse; now that we've dug in and really looked back through the entire year, we can safely say (and the year's not over yet) that 2008 has been interesting, unexpected -- especially when it comes to performers.Comedians who are usually funny, like Mike Myers and Will Ferrell, were outshined by actors
2008 ‘Razzies’ Nominees Include Indy 4, Paris Hilton And Tom Cruise - How Would You Vote?
Is it just me, or was 2008 one of the worst years for movies ever?
Well folks, the time has finally come to vent. It’s one of my favorite days of the year, as my Razzie ballot just arrived in the mail. As a registered voter, I take my obligation very seriously, and it’s always interesting to see what the annual awards for bad filmmaking have nominated for the worst of the worst.
Here’s your chance to help me vote! Below are the newly-released nominations for the 29th Annual Razzie awards
My 25 Favorite Things in the Films of 2008
I did this last year and thought I'd keep it going. Again, since I don't get out to see as Many movies as I like, and everyone's doing their year's best lists, here's my list of things I loved from the movies I actually saw.25. “Hulk Smash!”The shortfalls of The Incredible Hulk were there, but hearing the Hulk say it was a nice geek moment.24. Kat DenningsBetween her great turns in The House Bunny and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, I hope that means I’m going to get to see Kat in lots of movies
Chez Pazienza: One Last Look Back: The 10 Most Ridiculous, Shameful, or Generally Unfortunate People and Events of 2008 (and What They Mean for 2009)
Well, it could've been worse. As 2008 mercifully ends, we're left to ponder a year in which the real and the surreal were pretty much indistinguishable, where insanity actually became tedium, and where every silver lining was eclipsed by a brand new dark cloud. Sure, O.J.'s going to prison, but think about the absurdist comedy-of-errors it took to finally put him there. Yeah, gas is technically affordable again, but who has money to make car payments -- and for that matter, will anyone in Detroit still be in
The Worst Films of 2008
As we do every first Monday of the New Year, today we look back on the worst films of 2008. It’s hard to say that it was any better or worse than previous years — the 10 worst are bad in any year. But there were a few familiar faces from previous years, specifically Golden Pajiba’s mainstays like Uwe Boll, and the Movie Movie directing tandem, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. For the third year in a row, Larry the Cable Guy also makes the list. If there is a silver lining, it

10 Underrated Films From 2008
2008 is obviously still on the brain and at Will be at least for the next week if not longer. Here's seven films we thought were grossly underrated. We were going to title this the 10 Most Underrated Films of 2008, but someone would have surely balked, only because we haven't posted our top 20 list yet. These were definitely under-appreciated in our book though."In Bruges"Colin Farell and Brendan Gleeson starred as contract killers sent to the medieval Belgian city of Bruges after a botched hit at the behe

I know the Razzies are really a weird kind of honor but I don’t think Zac or Vanessa are deserving of Worst Actor noms, do you?
Their company isn’t too bad though, with the likes of Tom Cruise, Zooey Deschanel, and Reese Witherspoon.

The 2008 Razzie Nominations: Worst of the year in film
The 2008 Razzie Award nominations have been released, chronicling the year’s worst films and performances. There were so many stinkers to choose from - I’d bet it’s harder to pick the nominees for this than it is the Oscars and Golden Globes. This year’s big “winners” include the movie Speed Racer, which has topped many critics’ “Worst” lists, while frontrunners for worst actor/actress include Dane Cook, Larry the Cable Guy, Cameron Diaz and...

5. Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Every Woody Allen movie hits way too close to home, even magical European fairy tales about wealthy, beautiful artists; surely more than a few audience members gulped with personal recognition when Scarlett Johansson's character was described as "someone who doesn't know what she wants, only what she doesn't want," or when Javier Bardem uttered the axiom "only unfulfilled love can be romantic." Personally, I related to the threesome with ScarJo and
