‘Twilight’ sequel: New details on ‘New Moon’
Summit Entertainment has tentatively slated Nov. 20, 2009, as the release date for New Moon, the Twilight sequel, which means any director who signs on to replace Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has to be in Vancouver by Dec. 15 to begin 12 weeks of preproduction before a mid-March start date. Reports have speculated that Hardwicke was fired for being difficult on set, but sources close to her suggest Summit’s aggressive production schedule turned her off. “She’d love to
Twilight sequel, ‘New Moon’ filled with drama and concerns before shooting starts
With a tentative release date set for November 20th, 2009, the sequel New Moon remains un-helmed since Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke’s departure. Whoever ends up coming onto the project as director is going to have quite a few challenges, like being in Vancouver by December 15th to prepare for a mid-March production start date. This is somewhat of a surprise. It was recently announced
'New Moon' Director Found?
Summit Entertainment made it official yesterday; they won’t be bringing Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke back for New Moon. Now, it turns out there could be someone waiting in the wings.
Deadline Hollywood reports that Golden Compass director Chris Weitz was offered a two-picture deal for New Moon and Eclipse (if the films are done back-to-back). Weitz, who also directed About a Boy and Down to Earth, is “still considering” the deal.

Has Twilight Sequel Found its Director?
I swear, we’re not obsessed with the “Twilight” franchise or anything, it’s just that after the break-through success of the first movie, the franchise is practically sizzling right now. So, on the heels of news that Catherine Hardwicke will not be directing the sequel, and the possible shooting of parts 2 and 3 (”New Moon” and “Eclipses”) back-to-back, the latest “Twilight” rumor has Chris Weitz (”The Golden Compass”) comin
Golden Compass Director on New Moon?
You know it’s a slow news day when we’re doing stories on who will be in the director’s chair for New Moon, the upcoming Twilight sequel that Catherine Hardwicke recently stepped away from due to creative differences.
Deadline Daily Hollywood are reporting that Summit have the project out to Golden Compass director Chris Weitz (About a Boy). There’s a chance New Moon and Eclipse, the third book in the series, will be shot back-to-back, and if so Weitz will be on board to direct both. N

Part two of the franchise remains un-helmed since Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke's departure, but with a tentative release date set for November 20th, 2009, whoever ends up coming onto the project would have to be in Vancouver by December 15th to prepare for a mid-March production start date.

Report: Chris Weitz been offered to direct “New Moon” by Summit Entertainment…
Summit Entertainment is not wasting any time trying to find a director replacement for “New Moon”. 'The Golden Compass' Director Chris Weitz Rumored to Helm 'New Moon'
Hot on the heels of the announcement that "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke won't return for the sequels, another potential director has been thrown in for the next project of the vampire drama. According to Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily, Chris Weitz, the director of "The Golden Compass", may have been offered to serve as "New Moon" helmer by Summit Entertainment.
Though mentioning that nothing is confirmed for the moment, Finke further let out that the offer has been sent o
Director: 'Twilight' filming 'pretty cool'
PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Hollywood director Catherine Hardwicke says filming the big screen adaptation of the vampire novel "Twilight" has been "pretty cool" to date.
Twilight 'New Moon' Director Speculation Runs Rampant, Chris Weitz Taking Over The Franchise?
Accusations and speculation are flying all over the Internet after this weekend's announcement that Catherine Hardwicke and Summit Entertainment parted ways on the "Twilight" franchise. On the anti-Summit side you've got any number of writers, including Jeffrey Wells, accusing Summit of being a "boy's club" and bringing up feminism and girl power. On the anti-Hardwicke side you've got Nikki Finke quoting "inside sources at Summit" calling her "'difficult' and 'irrational' during the making of 'T
Golden Compass Director To Helm Twilight 2?
It was pretty shocking to me when I heard the news that Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke, would not be returning to direct the sequel. Twilight made truck loads of money and because the highest opening weekend box office take of any film directed by a woman in history. Yes it met with some critical abuse… but when the film makes big money that usually doesn’t matter. So last week the studio and Hardwicke jointly announced (rather suspiciously I might add) that Hardwicke woul
Twilight director 'not chosen for sequel'
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has reportedly been turned down as director of the smash hit vampire film's sequel New Moon - despite vocalising her desire to be involved with the project.
The filmmaker scored the biggest debut ever for a female director when the bloodsucking love story shot to number one in the US late in November, and was the favourite to take the follow-up movie's helm.
But, according to Hollywood Reporter, bosses at Summit Entertainment - the franchise's studio - h
Summit Intent on Ruining \"New Moon\"
I was livid when I read that Summit was not going to go with Catherine Hardwicke for the popular "Twilight" sequel - the biggest money-making female director ever. It wasn't that Hardwicke wasn 't asked; she was, but while she wanted time to develop the script a bit and film on location in Italy, Summit decided to go with crappier plan B and fast-track the film for spring production so they could turn a quick buck.
Twilight with Puppets. Clip of the Day
It’s probably a good thing I’m not head of Summit Entertainment, because I’d replace departed Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke with “SpookyDan,” a YouTube user who shot a three-minute remake of the first movie using puppets. Fans of Twilight probably wouldn’t appreciate having Robert Pattinson replace with a silent, plush version of Edward Cullen, although their ability to project their fantasy of the vampire heartthrob onto anyone or anything (Pattinson

The Catherine Hardwicke story continues. Still at issue are: why she didn't get the gig on New Moon, the Twilight sequel, and who will take her place.
Morning Piss: Sexist, Thy Name Truly Is Twilight
The circumstances alone surrounding director Catherine Hardwicke's exit from the colossally successful vampire love flick Twilight give sexism a whole new slant.
There's really no concrete reason even being offered up by the studio for Hardwicke's goodbye. Such great thanks for the flick that had the highest movie opening by a female director, ever.
"Creative vision," apparently, was the culprit and why Twilight's execs went sniffing in a different, more boyish direction (the new director hasn
Chris Weitz To Direct Twilight Sequel New Moon?
Summit Entertainment is wasting no time in finding a new director for “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon.” The studio has officially announced they will be moving ahead with the sequel without “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke.

Golden Compass Director May Take Over Twilight
Twilight is a series of books written by a woman, and with a heavily female fanbase. So who to pick to replace the female director of the first, hugely successful film in the series? A man, of course.
Chris Weitz, the director of successful movies (American Pie, About A Boy) as well as one gigantic flop (The Golden Compass), is rumored to be the likely successor to Catherine Hardwicke as the director of New Moon. Deadline Hollywood, which broke the news that Hardwicke had been ditched, is rep
TWILIGHT fans, start to panic about that NEW MOON
No disrespect meant to Chris Weitz, it’s not my intention for this to become an attack article but I can’t help but feel you blew your epic movie with THE GOLDEN COMPASS (which we wrote and directed) a film that killed New Line Cinema should we not forget and your heavily rumored attachment to the Twilight franchise should have fans worried.

Twilight war on set!
Despite Twilight's record-breaking $70 million opening — the highest ever for a movie directed by a woman — director Catherine Hardwicke is out for the upcoming sequel. What happened? According to an insider, Catherine clashed with Stephenie Meyers, the author of Twilight and New Moon, who wants the sequel to stay truer to the second book. And Catherine also butted heads with star Robert Pattinson.
