Is Hollywood Lacking In "Manly" Men? [Gender Benders]

Hollywood turns to British actors like Christian Bale for action men (AKA American men are pussies)
Hollywood is turning to British actors for leading action roles because of a dearth of American macho men.
While the US film industry was once dominated by "men's men" such as Steve McQueen, today's homegrown stars have difficulty portraying tough guys.
As a result, directors are looking across the Atlantic and to brawny British actors including Gerard Butler, star of historical war epic 300, and Jason Statham, who has carved out a niche in high-octane action movies.

Everyone from Paris Hilton to Guy Ritchie to Hugh Jackman to The Rock descended upon the San Diego convention center on Thursday for the world's largest comic book convention: Comic-Con.
While the streets were lined with thousands of Batmen, Wonder Women and anime creatures, the biggest surprise was a very hairy and well-built Jackman, who gave a sneak peek at "Wolverine," which only wrapped filming in Australia less than two weeks ago.

No Pablo for Bardem?
An interesting development at today's press junket for Woody Allen's romantic comedy Vicky Christina Barcelona when ComingSoon.net spoke to the film's star Javier Bardem and asked him about Joe Carnahan's Killing Pablo, for which the Oscar-winning actor was attached to play the title role of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.
It was reported by Variety last October that the Yari Film Group was fast-tracking the film with Bardem playing the lead role and Christian Bale to co-star. When ComingSoon.net spoke to C

Brad Pitt says Not On Our Watch!
Brad Pitt was looking quite hot in his relaxed suit (loving the open collar and no tie/bow tie, rowr!) and goatee as he arrived at the Not On Our Watch charity dinner in Venice.
He’s co-hosting the event with George Clooney, but Not On Our Watch was founded by Brad, George, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Jerry Weintraub, and David Pressman. The proceeds from this gala will provide funds for various humanitarian projects.

The People Have Spoken, And They Think James Franco Is a Rapist [Results]
Rape Watch 2008 continues. Yesterday we wondered about the identity of the blind item gay rapist, going so far as to put it to a poll for y'all to answer. And answer you did, resoundingly. While Will Smith pursued his happyness to an early lead, the srsly detailed evidence that it's dreamy (sigh) Columbia-bound actor/writer James Franco eventually won you over. You can read between the lines! And, no, friends. It's not Vin Diesel. So good job there. Also, two interesting questions were posed by commenters:
Batman won't catch "Titanic"
Will "Titanic" ever lose its berth as the biggest movie of all time? "The Dark Knight" is racing up the ranks, but the Batman sequel will stall at No. 2 with about $510 million to $520 million, Warner Bros. Pictures predicts.
That's far from the $601 million haul of "Titanic," which set sail in December 1997. (Adjusted for inflation, both movies are dwarfed by the $1.4 billion haul for 1939's "Gone with the Wind").
The buoyancy of "Titanic" is traceable to teenage girls from Toledo to Tokyo to Timbuk
Fake Batman poster
Dear BATMAN fans: please try to exercise a bit of common sense when it comes to news and rumors about the next movie.
Sure, it's fun to guess about the potential, and who Christian Bale might battle should he don the cowl again. But until something official is actually announced from the studio or the talent involved about the start of a next (still-theoretical) Batfilm, it's safe to assume that any and all casting, plot and/or imagery is either speculation, fan fabrication, or 100% complete bullshit.

You can listen to the recording on YouTube or read the transcript below:

George Clooney says he ‘couldn’t do what Brad and Angie are doing’
Star Magazine must be making deals with a lot of celebrity publicists because they’ve sure been scoring the A-list interviews lately. A few weeks ago they seemed to have one of the first interviews with Jennifer Aniston in years. Their most recent issue features an original interview with George Clooney. Interviews with Clooney are a dime a dozen but still remain fun as anything to read. The 47 year-old star is promoting his new Coen brothers film, Burn After Reading, which also stars Brad Pitt, Franc
Tilda Swinton being fabulous on the cover of Black Book
Tilda Swinton's Reign“Amazing!” With a gasp of approval, Tilda Swinton places her delicate hands on the Chanel gold feather neckpiece that will eventually adorn her perfectly proportioned, alabaster frame at the BlackBookcover shoot. “It’s very regal,” she proclaims. “I just love it.” Avant-garde goddess. An icon of indie cinema. To some, the most beautiful woman on the planet. And, on this morning in Paris, fashion model. Just in from Milan, where she’s currently shooting the romantic drama
Stars in Rewind: McDormand and the Coens, 'Blood Simple' '80s-Style
The latest wacky work from Ethan and Joel Coen, Burn After Reading, is headed to screens next week. As you might have seen from the trailer, the flick has brought together the awesome collection of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand. But this is certainly not the first Coen movie that Frances has graced. In fact, they jump-started her career in 1984 with Blood Simple.
Above, you can check out the trailer for the film, which follows love triangles and murder. McD

There is nothing like a musician that sweats while they are performing. It makes them look like they are really putting their all into their music. Singing it with everything they have. Johnny Depp looks hot sweating up a storm and singing!
Johnny joined up with this highschool band The Kids for a benefit concert in Florida. How sweet is that? He sure looks like he made the 90’s rock again. Especially with that plaid shirt. Rock on, Johnny!

Depp to Play Mad Hatter in 3-D Alice?
When I learned, via GreenCine Daily, that Johnny Depp might be playing the part of the Mad Hatter in a Tim Burton 3-D version of Alice in Wonderland (financed by the Disney Corp.) my first thought was - Why? Hadn’t Depp already played that part - or a visual simulacrum of it - in Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (above)? On second thought - Why not? If Depp could play Captain Jack in three Pirates films, why not revive his Willy Wonka characterization in the surreal context of a Lewis
