Anderson Cooper: Sure, you knew Anderson Cooper was the adorable unicorn of TV news anchors, but did you know he is so incredibly magical he can roll his tongue into a "really complicated four-leaf clover?" He can! Tongue-rolling is a genetic trait, but one can't help wonder if Cooper has had some practice. He apparently shows his skills only to certain, uh, special friends, like fellow closeted media personality Barry Diller, who, no joke, compared tongue technique with Cooper at a special retreat in Idaho. Some Google people were there, and the next thing you know, the tonguing had resulted in a big genetic-testing soiree in New York! Here's what Ivanka Trump and Rupert Murdoch said about their DNA at the party: Murdoch was tested along with his 99-year- Read full story at Gawker

With Hurricane Gustav, we get another episode of "Watch Us Stand in the Elements" -- don't the media make you want to hurl?
Hurricane Gustav gives the media another chance to show just how special we are. The main bulletin: We are such hypocrites. We'll tell you what to do in a hurricane -- flee -- but we won't follow our advice. And on the New Orleans story, the levees deserve the close-ups rather than the journalists. But Monday morning, TV anchors and reporters served up another episode of "Watch Us Stand in the Elements." Among those being lashed by the elements on Monday were Al Roker and Ann Curry of NBC,

Industry Insiders: Ivanka Trump, Executive Heiress
The Donald’s little darling talks industry jargon, raises cash for the fuzz, gives props to Rupert Murdoch, plays a few rounds, then slings gold to those Trump-loving Russians. All in a day’s work. Point of Origin: I'm a native New Yorker, born and raised -- and from the looks of it, likely to remain here in perpetuity. Occupations: Modeling, for me, was purely a pit stop, fun, in the moment. Anderson Cooper is not emo!

The Silver Fox Is Easy
Anderson Cooper isn't fussy! Page Six spotted him getting his hair cut at a barber shop in NYC for $15. Andy should have saved his sexy pennies. I have a Flowbee at home. I would have done it for free. And I would have thrown in a back massage....and a happy ending...and a prostate check.....and a candlelit dinner.... and a walk on the beach.... and a marriage proposal... and a.... DAMMIT! Murdoch in Esquire: For Five Years, Sulzberger Didn't Want to Hire 'Any White, Heterosexual Men'
"Everyone can see that The New York Times is a magnificent paper in many ways, lots of ways, but you can also see that they choose stories, very often for page 1, based on an agenda. I think that Arthur Sulzberger, over the years, has made it very clear that he wants a very liberal paper, and that he wants a staff that reflects that community. For five years, he didn't want any white, heterosexual men hired. He was sending a clear message." "I have one or two friends who know Barack Obama, b

Desperate Denver Journos Just Reporting on Each Other [Journalismism]
There's no news in Denver. At least, no news that couldn't be reported by watching it on C-Span from the comfort of home. So what to do? Report on what all your fellow journalists are doing! So far, the single greatest example of this is HuffPo's constant reportage from their own "HuffPost Oasis" in Denver. At left, an unretouched screengrab from their front page today. Murdoch: I Won't Put the 'Times' Out of Business
Excerpting his upcoming book in Vanity Fair this month, Michael Wolff claims that Rupert Murdoch has become embarrassed of Fox News, and, in particular, of its biggest star, Bill O'Reilly. But it sure doesn't seem that way in a lengthy Q&A Esquire conducted with the 77-year-old News Corp. chairman for its October issue. "Fox News is a core asset in every sense," Murdoch told Esquire. (Sorry, the story's not online yet.) He continued, In terms of its popularity and of its profit. But the thing that I am p
