Gov. Sarah Palin a ratings draw for ABC on "World News With Charles Gibson" and "Nightline"
Whatever you want to say about her, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a ratings magnet.
She helped ABC win Thursday in evening news and in late night.
ABC's "World News With Charles Gibson" offered the first interview with Palin since she became Sen. John McCain's running mate. ABC and Gibson attracted 9.7 million viewers, easily beating NBC's Brian Williams (7.5 million) and CBS' Katie Couric (6.2 million).
More of the Palin interview played on ABC's "Nightline," which posted a 4.2 ratin

Walking past the newsstand, we're sure to check in on Men's Vogue each month just to see which masculine metrosexual fella they wrangled into a suit and promised not to make him come off too dandy. (This month, it's Eli Manning. The anti-dandy thing didn't work: "Manning favors conservative Zegna suits for big events — receptions on the White House lawn, ring ceremonies at Tiffany — and prep-school casual at home. ABC's Charles Gibson calls "Stand Up to Cancer" a "very worthy effort"
ABC, CBS and NBC will air the same program at 8 p.m. Friday. The networks' evening anchors -- NBC's Brian Williams, CBS' Katie Couric and ABC's Charles Gibson (pictured) -- will be there to support "Stand Up to Cancer." The goal: bolster funding for cancer research.
"It's a very worthy effort," says Gibson, who is Central Florida's clear favorite among the three anchors.
"Funding for cancer research is woefully lacking. As a country, we spend more checking shoes and purses at th
Brian Williams Still in Need of a Nap
BriWi is about one major coverage short of a nervous breakdown. It's already duly noted that NBC is scheduling Williams so many places at once that he can't even blog, but that was apparently just the beginning:
From the Olympics in Beijing to the Democratic convention in Denver to Hurricane Gustav coverage in New Orleans to the Republicans in St. Paul to L.A. tomorrow for a cancer awareness special with his Big 3 competitors.
By Williams' calculation, it comes to 38,486 miles — including

Think You Want To Spend 30 Minutes Chatting With DeNiro And Pacino? You Don’t. Seriously. You Don’t.
Poor Brian Williams. Anyone who has the good fortune to interview folks on a regular basis can sympathize with the dozens of awkward silences in the below chat. It’s not Brian’s fault. He’s smooth and quick and funny but he’s saddled with an impossible task: making one of the great TV interview coups (Pacino AND DeNiro together for the first time!) kinda watchable. Of course Pacino is a famously difficult interview. DeNiro is notorious as perhaps the worst. And by the way it’s

When Joe Biden and Sarah Palin meet in St. Louis in just over three weeks, it will mark the seventh vice-presidential debate in history—and easily the most anticipated since 1984, when Vice President George H.W. Bush squared off with Geraldine Ferraro, the only woman before Palin ever nominated by a major party for national office.
And it is Bush’s conduct immediately before, during and after that Philadelphia debate that ought to provide Biden with a useful tutorial in some very basic don’ts when it
