Amy Poehler's Non-'Office' Non-Spinoff Exactly Like 'The Office' [Amy Poehler]

Details of Poehler's Office "spin-off" finally revealed
For a variety of reasons, I decided to not go to the Winter edition of the TCA press tour. So far, my choice to stay in frigid Jersey has been justified; not much in the way of big news has come out of the tour, and it seems like the networks are very happy about that.
However, if I was there, I would have apparently received the pilot script to the new Amy Poehler-led sitcom that's being written and produced by the folks from The Office , as Rob Owen of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette did y
AMAD Special Tribute: Human Giant’s Aziz Ansari on MAC AND ME (1988)!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. You know, I was 7 when this movie came out. Even I knew it was fucking ridiculous, but there is that nostalgia. I do remember watching this a lot on cable in my forming years. I probably should not try to rewatch as I have a feeling I wouldn’t be as kind to this one as I am to things like MONSTER SQUAD and FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR, two movies I feel hold up just as well today as they did for me as a kid.
Early buzz: 'SNL,' Roots, 'Scrubs,' Rourke and more
Happy Friday, everyone! I won't be blogging much today because I have some last-minute moving errands to run: picking up the rental car, returning the cable box, etc. I can't believe I'm almost out of here, and I'm anxious to get settled in my new digs!
Right now please enjoy these headlines:
- Sorry, fans: ABC has decided not to order additional episodes of Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone or Dirty Sexy Money.
- The Hollywood Reporter has an update on an Arrested Development movie, which really sounds like
Rashida Jones Joins Amy Poehler in the non-Office Spinoff
I don’t know why to this day, the press still calls Amy Poehler’s series’ the non-Office spinoff. Something about it just makes if funny…it’s like a phrase Michael Scott would coin.
Anyway, former The Office regular, Rashida Jones, has been tapped to star in the Amy Poehler comedy which should be in next year’s NBC line up. Rashida, who was a visible presence in the earlier seasons of The Office as Karen, Jim’s former girlfriend before Pam (you all know that, being

But then we ended up able to record at a space in Greenpoint called Junkyard, which w
Aziz Ansari to Be a Part of Zach Braff’s Non-Sequitur Fantasy
Aziz Is Booked: Vulture bro Aziz Ansari has landed a guest spot on Scrubs! The bearded comedian-actor will guest-star in the first few episodes of the show's new season as an intern named Ed. We just hope, for all of our sakes, that he wasn't hired to replace Courteney Cox as Zach Braff's love interest. [Aziz Is Bored]Hello, Hello Birdie Director Adam Shankman has taken a break from depositing checks from Bedtime Stories to sign on to develop and produce a remake of Bye Bye Birdie for Columbia Pictures. Aziz Ansari hired for 'Office' spinoff
Details are finally starting to emerge on NBC's highly anticipated "The Office" spinoff -- including the show's first cast hire, Aziz Ansari of MTV's sketch comedy "Human Giant."
Producers are mum on Ansari's role, but he'll be part of a larger ensemble that executive producers Greg Daniels and Michael Schur are putting together.
Ansari has sealed a one-year talent hold with Universal Media Studios as part of his deal to join the cast, the studio confirmed.
"We met him pretty early on and thought h

Human Giant’s Aziz Ansari Takes Our Pop Quiz
If you tuned into Scrubs this week you would have caught Human Giant Aziz Ansari guest-starring as Ed, the jerky intern with an affinity for Lost. In upcoming months you can catch him again on television in the highly-anticipated sitcom starring Amy Poehler by the producers of The Office, on the big screen hanging with the Apatow clan, or maybe if you're lucky, walking the streets blasting shitty music. He's L.A-based now, but this Friday and Saturday he'll be back in his old stomping grounds of New York, h
The First Tumblr Review Of Judd Apatow's Funny People Is In
An audience member/extra named Lawrence who attended/participated in a comedy show filmed last night for Judd Apatow's Adam Sandler-starring comedian movie Funny People tried not to break the house rule ("please don't go home and review the show on the internet like assholes,") but couldn't help sharing the following, which I've put into the form of blurbs:
"Honestly, everyone was effing hilarious."
"it was clear that Aziz (Ansari) was the crowd favorite."
"(Aziz Ansari) plays a comedian named Raaaaaaa
Scrubs season eight - An early look
Filed under: Scrubs, Early Looks, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free
A lot of people -- fans included -- wonder how Scrubs has managed to get to an eighth season. After all, things weren't breaking its way at the end of what was supposed to be its seventh and final season: the writers' strike truncated the season, its network (NBC) no longer wanted the show, and, though the writing quality had picked up by the time the seventh season was cut short, it had declined enough that even the show's most ardent fans wer
Aziz Ansari, Comedian
We've been big fans of Aziz Ansari since he first hit the comedy scene all those years ago, and it seems like since then he's been speedily checking things off his To-Do list. He launched off the stand-up stage to get his own MTV series (Human Giant), is now in an anxiously awaited spin-off of The Office (he clears up the plotline below), and he's been busy filming movies with the likes of Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd. Not too shabby. This weekend he returns to New York, after moving out to Los Angeles—ca

The Hilarious Little Boy From Role Models Was On Human Giant
If Bobb'e J. Thompson, the little force of nature who was one of the five best parts of the fall's best comedy movie, Role Models, looks familiar, it might be because he was in the Shutterbugs sketches on Human Giant! Here he is in a sketch from Season 1, playing the boss:
Seriously, go see Role Models. As expected, it does get heartwarming, but in a totally deserved (and really unusual) way. KISS-My-Anthia forever! (Via Aziz Ansari.) (Also: back in April, Gabe was already saying Bobb'e J. should be pr
Wanna be in a Judd Apatow flick?
The casts in Judd Apatow's movies always seem like a very tight-knit club. How exactly does one get in? Is there a secret password? Does it involve massaging Seth Rogen's feet?
For his new film, Funny People, Apatow is allowing one lucky member of the public into his exclusive comedy machine. Here's how it works: Friend the flick's MySpace profile. Leave a comment (100 words or less) explaining why you should win a walk-on role.
The deadline is Dec. 8, and "winners will be judged on quality of expr

First Look: Scrubs Season Eight With Courteney Cox
I'm telling you, I have such high hopes for this season of Scrubs. For what's most likely the show's final batch of episodes (and at least the last ones for Zach Braff), Scrubs has hopped over to ABC, and back at the TCA press tour, the cast couldn't have seemed happier about the move.
The show's gotten Courteney Cox to tag along for a few episodes, a gig that was apparently successful enough that Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is now building a whole new show around Cox. Matthew Perry will stop by as well.
Rising stars: Nine to watch in 2009
We're betting you're going to get very familiar with the new faces on this list in the next 12 months, including Chris Pine (''Star Trek''), Aziz Ansari (Judd Apatow's ''Funny People''), Anna Kendrick (''Twilight,'' the new George Clooney movie), and more
Idris Elba gets 'Office' space - Entertainment News, TV News, Media - Variety
Thesp Idris Elba has been cast on "The Office" as a new rival to Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell).
Elba, most recently seen in Guy Ritchie's "Rocknrolla," will appear in six episodes later this season. Details are slim on his plot line, other than he'll play a no-nonsense hire at Dunder Mifflin's corporate office who will throw Michael Scott into turmoil.
NBC is expected to announce Elba's casting during the Peacock's portion of the TV Critics Assn. press tour on Thursday.
